How Fast-Food Franchising Actually Works
Almost every restaurant you think of as a chain is owned by someone else entirely. What the franchisee actually buys, and why it explains the price on the board.

Menus and prices in 4 markets, 150 items tracked.
Coffee World is a franchising business first and a coffee business second, and its store map reflects where franchise partners were found rather than where a corporate strategy pointed - Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, China, Laos and Bahrain among them, roughly 120 stores across seven countries.
It was founded in Bangkok in 1997 by Global Franchise Architects and later acquired by Thailand's PTG Group, which reshaped its priorities considerably.
Its entry into Bangladesh in 2005 made it among the first international specialty coffee chains there, arriving with a halal-certified menu built for the market rather than adapted afterwards. We do not yet hold a Bangladesh market page: a country needs at least five tracked brands before it gets one.
It has no products in our price index; menus are built locally in each market.
Each market has its own board. Prices are shown in local currency and are not comparable across rows - Use the index below for that.

1 of these 4 markets have a written profile but no priced menu in our data yet. We cover where a brand trades even where we cannot yet source its board, and say so on the page rather than leaving a gap - See methodology. Prices are in each market’s own currency and are not comparable across rows; for that, use the price index.

In 1997, entrepreneur Fred Mouawad opened the first Coffee World café in Bangkok, Thailand. The establishment quickly gained popularity for its inviting atmosphere and diverse menu. Over the years, Coffee World expanded its presence across Asia and beyond, establishing outlets in countries such as India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and China. The brand's growth reflects its commitment to providing a welcoming space where people from all walks of life can enjoy quality food and beverages.
Coffee World's menu offers a blend of international and local favorites. Signature beverages include the classic Americano, creamy Cappuccino, and indulgent Caramel Macchiato. For those seeking non-coffee options, the café serves a variety of teas, smoothies, and frappes, such as the Japanese Matcha Latte Frappe and Mango Passion Smoothie. Complementing the drinks are an array of pastries and light meals, catering to diverse tastes and preferences.
Beyond serving food and drinks, Coffee World aims to be a place where communities come together. The café's warm and friendly environment encourages guests to relax, connect, and create memories. By offering consistent quality and service, Coffee World has become a trusted gathering spot for friends, families, and colleagues alike.
From its humble beginnings in Bangkok to its international presence today, Coffee World continues to uphold its mission of bringing people together over great coffee and conversation.

Localisation is not adding a novelty item. It is a staged process with a predictable sequence, and the menu data shows exactly how far each market has travelled.

Menu boards are designed documents, not lists. Where the money items sit, what the ordering of panels is doing, and how to find the price you actually want.
Price reports are signed, reviewed by a person, and earn points when accepted - So they need an account. Signing in takes one tap and brings you straight back to the report.
