How Fast-Food Franchising Actually Works
Almost every restaurant you think of as a chain is owned by someone else entirely. What the franchisee actually buys, and why it explains the price on the board.

Menus and prices in 9 markets, 344 items tracked.
Cinnabon is a mall-anchor business built on one product and, unusually, on smell: stores are positioned and ventilated so the cinnamon carries down a concourse. It is the most effective marketing the brand does and it costs nothing.
The menu is deliberately narrow - The Thai board carries just 11 items, one of the smallest in our database. A kitchen producing essentially one thing extremely well needs no more.
Five Cinnabon products appear in our price index, including the Caramel PecanBon across six markets. The Hong Kong menu was one of three where the legacy import had concatenated price ranges into single numbers, since repaired.
Each market has its own board. Prices are shown in local currency and are not comparable across rows - Use the index below for that.

Every item across every Cinnabon menu, mapped onto our dish taxonomy.
In 1985, a father and son duo, Rich and Greg Komen, embarked on a mission to create the world's greatest cinnamon roll. After months of testing and perfecting recipes, they opened the first Cinnabon bakery on December 4, 1985, at SeaTac Mall in Federal Way, Washington. The original cinnamon roll quickly became a local favorite, known for its rich aroma and indulgent flavor.
At the heart of Cinnabon's menu is the Classic Roll, made with warm dough, a proprietary blend of cinnamon, and topped with signature cream cheese frosting. This commitment to quality ingredients and handcrafted preparation ensures a consistently delightful experience for guests.
Cinnabon is dedicated to supporting the communities it serves. Through programs like "Cinnabon Cares," employees volunteer with local nonprofit organizations, participate in community service events, and donate baked goods to shelters and food banks. Additionally, the establishment offers fundraising opportunities for non-profits, schools, and other organizations, providing tools and support to help raise funds effectively.
From its humble beginnings in Washington to its presence in locations worldwide, Cinnabon continues to delight guests with its signature offerings and commitment to community engagement.

Localisation is not adding a novelty item. It is a staged process with a predictable sequence, and the menu data shows exactly how far each market has travelled.

Menu boards are designed documents, not lists. Where the money items sit, what the ordering of panels is doing, and how to find the price you actually want.
Price reports are signed, reviewed by a person, and earn points when accepted - So they need an account. Signing in takes one tap and brings you straight back to the report.
