About Outback Steakhouse
A Bold Idea Born in Tampa
In 1988, four friends—Chris Sullivan, Robert Basham, Tim Gannon, and Trudy Cooper—opened the first Outback Steakhouse in Tampa, Florida. Inspired by the adventurous spirit of the Australian Outback, they aimed to create a casual dining experience that combined high-quality food with a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Their "No Rules, Just Right" philosophy quickly resonated with diners, leading to rapid expansion across the United States and beyond.
Signature Flavors with a Down Under Twist
Outback Steakhouse is renowned for its hearty, flavorful dishes that bring a taste of the Outback to the table. The menu features a variety of steaks, such as the Outback Special sirloin and Victoria's Filet, each seasoned and seared to perfection. The Bloomin' Onion, a colossal onion hand-carved, breaded, and deep-fried, has become an iconic appetizer, delighting guests with its crispy petals and signature dipping sauce. Other favorites include the Alice Springs Chicken, topped with bacon, honey mustard sauce, sautéed mushrooms, and melted cheeses, and the Queensland Chicken & Shrimp Pasta, a creamy blend of grilled chicken, shrimp, and fettuccine.
Connecting with Communities
Outback Steakhouse is committed to giving back to the communities it serves. Through initiatives like the "TeamMATES" program, the restaurant partners with college athletes to host local give-back nights, raising funds for various charities. Additionally, Outback collaborates with organizations such as the American Cancer Society, supporting campaigns like "Be A Game Changer" to aid in the fight against cancer. These efforts reflect Outback's dedication to making a positive impact beyond its restaurant walls.
From its humble beginnings in Tampa to its presence in over 20 countries, Outback Steakhouse continues to serve up bold flavors and warm hospitality, inviting guests to enjoy a dining experience that's both satisfying and memorable.
